Summary:
Educators will modify an existing activity and in order to fully understand what is involved, create an example project.
Tasks:
  1. Find an existing activity that fits some of your needs. Pick one with a project or tool you like and modify the content. Or, pick one with content you like and modify the project or tool(s). Below are some sites for finding existing projects:
  2. Evaluate the existing project - Now that you've found a possible starting point, time to look at it more closely. Select one (or more) of the frameworks below to use:
  3. If the lesson does not include the use of technology see if the Activity Types taxonomy for your subject has a suggested tool or tools.
  4. If the lesson does not include an assessment (especially formative assessment), decide what assessment methods are best for the students' learning
  5. Select an Activity Planning Format/Template
  6. Share/publish a rough draft of the remixed or original activity/lesson/project plan to your personal, classroom, or district wiki/blog.
  7. Complete a peer critique session.
  8. Revise the activity/lesson/project as needed
  9. Optional - In general, thinking from a content/standards/skills perspective is desireable, there are sometimes reasons to work from a tool perspective first. Instead of using the activitiy sources listed in step 1 above, consider working from a tool perspective and then work in the content/standards/skills.
Objectives:
  • Educators will critique others' activity/lesson/project plans
  • Educators will remix or develop their own activity/lesson/project plans
  • Educators will critique their own and peers' activity/lesson/project plans
  • Educators will share/publish their remixed or original activity/lesson/project plans
Assessment:
  • Activities and projects can be evaluated by the developers themselves using the frameworks listed in Step 2 above or through peer critique sessions
